The Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital Emergency and Critical Care department operates 24-hours a day, seven days a week, covering the urgent healthcare needs of your pets.
Our Emergency and Critical Care services include:
- Oxygen therapy, which includes: oxygen cages, nasal oxygen, and long-term ventilator therapy
- NOVA(R) blood gas analysis and pulse oximetry
- Blood component therapy, including: red blood cell, plasma, and cryoprecipitate provided by our Blood Donor Program
- Advanced vascular access, including central venous and arterial catheterization
- Cardiac and blood pressure monitoring
- Abdominal, thoracic, and patient bed-side ultrasound capability
- Digital X-ray, MRI and CT imaging
- Advanced pain control with continuous infusions, local and regional anesthesia.

- Emergency surgery
- Video endoscopy

Our emergency care services are available for any health problem, including the immediate treatment of:
- Urinary obstructions
- Constipation
- Bite wounds
- Syncope/fainting

- Emergency trauma; such as, being hit by a car
